Gail

A few of my Gail Favorites.......

Mar 16, 2011

Introduction of "US"

Gail and I have been together for a little over seven years. I know I've enjoyed every single day. Together we've been through so amazing adventures. From scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef, exploring foreign countries, buying a home together, etc.....

I would say just about being together for one year, I knew Gail was the woman I would spend my life with. As many of you may have seen her promise ring on her right hand, as she would always point out. I gave her that on our first anniversary. At that point our family and friends have been asking us when are we going to get married. Not so much initially but as the years went by more and more frequently.

As time went by, we would grow closer, I think our travels around the world helped us realize that we could work together and have fun in a some times stressful situation. Our first major trip was London, Paris, and Dublin. My first time out of the country. We talked together to discuss points of interest we would visit, how we would get there, and how to get around in each country. I would say some was improvised but hey, that was half the fun of it.

I think our most favorite trip was Thailand, more specifically the Phi Phi Island Village Beach Resort & Spa in Krabi. http://www.ppisland.com/index.php. This was a very peaceful resort, minus the falling coconuts that may end your life. We got a private bungalow type.

The Private Bungalow.
The funniest thing I remember was going into our bathroom taking photos of everything, and I said." Oh my God, Gail you have to see this!" Gail thinking a found some sort of gila monster, hesitantly walks to the bathroom and peeking over my shoulder to see what I am pointing at, see they placed a beautiful flower in the toilet as an added decoration. We had lots of fun there. Taking a dragon boat tour around the islands, romantic dinners at the restaurant, and Gail's absolute favorite the spa.

At this time at the Resort we were celebrating our fifth year anniversary together in 2009. So I wanted to do something a little special so while I got a moment away from Gail I called the restaurant and asked them if I could have a small arrangement of flowers put together for Gail. After our day at the spa, we got ready for dinner and got a ride on the islands golf cart shuttle service. We had dinner, which was good every night that we went there. I got up kind of suddenly during dinner, and talked to the dinner host and asked them to bring over the flowers.

One of my many favorite photos of Gail.
I thought it was a romantic idea and little did I know what she thought. Later I found out that she thought I was going to propose. Man, now that I think of it that would have been the perfect place. I have no regrets but realization of truths that could have been. This was our last major trip alone together, for we wanted to begin saving for a home together.

In 2010 the Giants went to the World Series. And all during the playoffs, and championships, and the Worlds Series I have never seen or heard Gail so happy. It was something from the depth of her soul cheering for her favorite team. I would say her enthusiasm for the Giants, since we began dating, "courting" as Gail likes to say jokingly, revamped any former fandom I had as a child for the Giants, which faded when I began to play baseball in High School. Whatever we won that was so friggin' awesome!

Giants Win!!!

Begin 2011. During this year we went to the Philippines to visit Gail's mom's family. But before we left, Gail's paternal grandmother, died the day before we were to leave. This was a sad point for both of us, well because she helped raise Gail as a child, and for me because my grandmothers both died when I was twelve, so Apu, Gail's grandmother, was a grandmother figure for seven years of my life.

After mourning our loss, we traveled to the Philippines; don't fly Delta by the way. We arrived and had lots of fun in the short time we were there. I enjoyed meeting everyone from the Lindos and they showed me a great time and were very welcoming to me. I think I made a good impression.

February comes and goes.

March is here and begins the plan Mission Scottsdale. To be continued....
